“The point is not to become a leader. The point is to become yourself, and to use yourself completely – all your gifts, skills and energies – to make your vision manifest. You must withhold nothing. You must, in sum, become the person you started out to be, and to enjoy the process of becoming.” (Warren Bennis, On Becoming a Leader).
In this changing, challenging, and competitive workplace, we cannot overestimate the importance of good management and leaders. Good leaders will consistently motivate you to perform at higher levels of productivity. Bad leaders will drive you crazy and eventually out of the organization.
What is my vision? “The best leaders not only assign tasks or monitor performance. Leaders plan the future and motivate others to see the same vision, so they can all thrive to accomplish that vision. Instead of dwelling on limited problems, the perfect leader looks at the big picture. They live the organization’s mission and implement, motivate, and dedicate all their efforts to accomplishing the mission” http://thesykesgrp.com/LeadershipPerfectArticle01.htm.
My vision is to be the best leader I can become. I want to be the “Mother Theresa” of all leaders. As a leader, I want to teach future audiences the important factors on how animals have a soul, and a life, and how we, the people need to step up and be compassionate for the helpless creatures that live among us. I see myself creating an organization that will save animals, providing the helpless animals with food, shelter, love and a second chance at life. The best leaders realize their word is their bond and that actions speak louder than words. Perfect leaders work at being honest, open, and reliable every day.
How are you making it manifest? I have been volunteering with the Humane Society for approximately Two years, as well as taking courses with the United States Humane Society on shelter implementation, animal safety, humane awareness (just to name a few). I have been saving extra income in a savings account to conquer my dreams, and to start living the life of a successful leader.
How are you becoming yourself? Right now, I have been working on my strengths and weaknesses as an individual, so that when I do become a leader in my own organization, I can be the best that I can be. One example: My ability to stay positive through tough economic times by providing animals with passion, housing, food and warmth from my own home without monetary resources and by utilizing the guidance of the Humane Society and United States Humane Society’s educational resources has helped me to teach peers about humane education.
Are you enjoying the process of becoming? Yes, becoming a great leader and saving animals that may not have a voice but have a heart, has been a very rewarding process in becomi
