Democrats, Republicans, Tea Partiers, Constitutionalists, and the GOP. What are all of these? Simply put, these are the extreme divisors in America. What do these mean? They mean America has very different and very extreme ideas of how the government should run itself. It is these irrational differences that keep America from succeeding. As a country we need a rational intelligent voice to shed light on these dark differences and help America move past them. This is what I believe.
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek (Barack Obama).” The 2008 presidential election was a truly inspiring experience. I remember attending an Obama rally. Seeing all the thousands of people all starring into the distance hoping to get a glimpse of the incredible figure, listening to his inspiring words. I vividly remember the crisp fall air and the giant trees changing color on that brilliant fall afternoon. It was truly humbling to see the hope shine in everyone’s eyes. Barack Obama was that rational intelligent voice that was needed in 2008 when the country was severely divided and crumbling. He was in essence, a white night.
Today again we find America being ripped apart due to our inability overcome our differences and the lack of rational voice coming from anywhere inside the capitol. With so many extreme views floating around and the press spreading the extreme views like a wild fire America is in a dire situation. No party, political group, or person will agree to compromise with another. Right now America needs a rational voice. Someone like Obama in 2008, we need someone to empower this nation, someone who isn’t afraid of his or her party or their reputation. Obama could very well be the voice we seek but his voice has been stifled since he was overwhelmed with all the challenges he has faced. On issues such as healthcare and the national deficit we can all agree that there may be flaws but with the help of a rational voice we can work through these issues. Right now this will not happen because nobody is willing to come out and stand up for the American people, no one is willing to comprise even within their own party. No one in this country seems have the courage to say what must be said. Right now we are not “the home of the brave.”
The time has come for America to set aside her differences and focus on improving the lives for all of us here today. Now is not the time to do what is wrong just to attempt to boost their ratings or to gain popularity amongst the press. Now is time for a rational voice to stand up and say enough is enough. This is the land of the free and the home of the brave and that is what I believe.
