New Shoes

I believe in new shoes. I believe in the story behind them and the fresh start they give. I believe in new beginnings, new adventures, and being on cloud nine, even if it’s only a short visit. I remember as a child I would get a new pair of shoes before big trips and I would always love the new feeling. Where would these new shoes take me? Who will I meet? What will I see? Everyone loves new shoes but not everyone has a story behind those shoes. Shoes are something taken advantage of and not noticed for the inner meaning of them, only the style of them or the brand matters to most people. I believe that shoes have soul not just soles.

When I was a young boy I would go on tour with the Philadelphia Boys Choir. We went to many places and every time I would go on tour I would buy a pair of shoes. These shoes were special because I wouldn’t wear them until I left for the airport. They were usually black because that’s what was recommended, even though you still to this day would not catch me wearing anything but white based shoes, and I would go everywhere with those shoes, walking through the rocky jungles in Costa Rica, going through the Panama Canal, being shaken to the core by the lightning storms in Cuba, castles in Sweden, playing the drums in Denmark and even relaxing sea breeze on an Alaskan cruise. Those black shoes would experience everything I would. These shoes were special because a lot of shoes don’t get to experience climbing the Eiffel Tower or exotic rain forests. The shoes not only experience but also feel the elements from the ground level.

I believe that new shoes give you a fresh start and a new beginning. There’s no feeling like putting on a fresh pair of sneakers, you feel like you can take on anything. I believe when you look good you feel good and it all starts with your shoes, there’s no such thing as looking good with dirty old shoes. The firmness in the new pair gives you a sense of soul cleansing and renewal. The bond only a man and his shoes can feel. Shoes make any obstacle easier to conquer because the soul of the shoe gives you the confidence.
