There are many views on how to become a leader and what a leader really is. Warren Bennis once said “the point is not to become a leader. The point is to become yourself, and to use yourself completely – all your gifts, skills and energies – to make your vision manifest. You must withhold nothing. You must, in sum, become the person you started out to be, and to enjoy the process of becoming.”
I agree with this because my vision of being a leader is growing from personal experiences and implementing these experiences into various aspects of my life, and hopefully the experiences being implemented will reflect leadership qualities. Some may not like these qualities, but not all leadership styles are the same, and I’m ok with that. I am also willing to learn from these sorts of things so that in the future I can work with and please more people without letting go of what I firmly believe in. Because if you do what you in your heart believe is right and stay honest and keep your word, then you cannot fail, at least within yourself. This is the only thing that should matter. Once you do this you will start enjoying the process of developing new ideas and growing within yourself, and becoming a better person.
I am doing my best to do all these things, and I am learning each day that it takes a strong person with a strong personality to become a leader. You have to hold fast in what you believe, but you also have to be able to let pride not get in the way of things, because sometimes it is the only thing holding you back from progressing. There are many individuals you do not know you they are because they are busy trying to be someone who they are not. Each day I wake up I try my hardest to stay true to myself and who I am as a human being. You may be a great impersonator, but there’s only one person who can impersonate you the best. That person is you. I wouldn’t want to be anyone else in the world because I know that we are all equal as human beings the moment we set foot in this earth. But somehow we as human beings get away from this and become something monstrous. So yes I am enjoying the process of becoming and hope that I can always become more and something better.
