Background/Task: Many squander their lives on unnecessary tasks that merely tease them into pseudo-happiness, when in actuality they’ve given up priceless opportunities to conform to the social norm. I believe, more than anything, in grasping all the potential that life contains. Thus, a series of meticulous instructions are included to assist the wandering human in completing a rewarding, well-lived life:
•Step 1: Jump at every opportunity life feels like handing you, and especially the ones it doesn’t. Although television mystifies the average American into the illusion that the FBI will storm their house and take them on a secret mission because their random knack for sock-folding will save the world, don’t count on it. One must go and create their ultimate experience, their time of their life. When it comes to adventures and fulfilling dreams, succumbing to obstacles like lack of time or “it’s just too hard” will only result in a life of regrets. Eliminate the “what if’s” in your life and grasp the opportunities that come your way.
•Step 2: Strive to run the mile even though asthma irritated lungs and dust filled air will eventually take their toll. When pollution is clogs the air passage and eyes tear at the pain-throbbing lungs, never lose sight of that goal ahead. Whether that objective be the nearest curve in a track, or the finish line, it is imperative to keep trying even if failure looms.
•Step 3: Whether it is a human, animal, plant or insect, all life is worth a much greater value than most acknowledge, so be the one that raises that bar. The lowest forms of life are actually the bases of all living creatures and necessary to survival. Whether butterfly or bird, life should be respected. Remember, it all starts with one act of destruction which eventually ripples out into mass chaos.
•Step 4: Be out of the ordinary. In a society of conformists the only way to embrace the “individual snowflake” that is every human being one must really get in touch with their inner-weirdness. As the school curriculum tightens, one must maintain not only personal sanity but aid the sanity of those around them by letting loose and revealing their creative side. Whether in the arts, clothes, hair, tone, or nail polish, one has to express themselves to relax those feelings of constraint.
Most of all:
•Step 5. Refuse to remain ignorant in the ways of those in charge. In a country where one is allowed to question, ask away! It is ensured by the Constitution that, as citizens of America, people that aren’t happy with the government have not only the right but the obligation to do something about it. When able to vote, be one of the few raise their voice. What keeps people from truly embracing everything life offers is living a controlled life of ignorance. Quite frankly, that’s no life at all.
