To believe in something is to have your heart into it to do everything for your belief to succeed. I believe in many things like to help each other, to offer a shoulder in which to cry on, to stop the war in Iraq. I believe in everything ranging from small beliefs to grand ones.
I think it is okay for some people to feel bad or sad because of what is happening in the world, but we have a duty as human beings to unite and help others. I believe in equality and our duty to help. Many people misunderstand and just think about sending money. That is not the key to helping other people in need.
A teacher opened my eyes as to what is happening. She showed me that sending money isn’t the best thing we can do. She was my shining light in the vast darkness in which most of us are. She explained that all we were doing by sending money was keeping them down. They weren’t progressing and all because of us. She said that we should send people and show them how to dig wells to reach water. That we should send education for kids; even adults. We must help by sending knowledge, but of course some money will help with the blossoming of a successful country.
Every time I eat I remember all of those kids who aren’t privileged with food every day like I am, and it pains me to see how sometimes my sisters and I throw away food. I try to focus on what I can change instead of what I can’t. I remember when we went to Mexico and we took a bunch of my favorite toys. I was just 7 and I was going to meet my dad’s side of the family. I met cousins, grandparents, and uncles. I was astonished of how they lived. They only had a little bit of warm water and after the warm water was over there came the cold. When we left we didn’t take our toys. When I realized that I was crying my parents said it was ok but what I wanted were my toys. Turned out they did that on purpose I was mad for a couple of days but then I understood. My cousins had nothing and my parents wanted to give them something. I was happy that my parents, my sisters, and I could bring a little bit of joy to them.
“United we stand, Divided we fall”, simply states that we must stay united because if we don’t, we fall. We must get rid of our grudges in order to help each other. We must stay united in order to help other people survive.
