I didn’t know what to write for this project until I got present for my birthday/graduation party this weekend. Celebrations aren’t meant to be about presents and gifts but rather about the company of your friends and family. Though for me I believe in CREAM -(Cash Rules Everything Around Me). Now I may sound greedy for saying that but if you think about it for a second, it rules you too. Today’s world is becoming more materialistic. Children are buying new outfits or video games at daily basis, and even eight year olds have cell phones. My belief is that the perfect gift to give someone is CASH. What happened to me was that I received a gift that though it was nice I am never going to use it. My aunt gave me a fifty dollar gift card to Pac-sun, and well that’s an okay store, I guess. But I mean fifty dollars is a lot of money and I know some of you right now are thinking, WOW what a spoiled person, he sits up there complaining about getting money. It’s now that I am complaining about getting money it’s the fact that the gift was given in the means of a restriction. A gift card that imprisons me into a store in which I have never wanted to nor going step foot into, Pac-sun just isn’t the style of clothes I wear. I’m more of an American-Eagle Prep kid. You see money makes the world go round. Those who have it spend it, those who don’t want it. It’s an inevitable thing that is practically the means for a persons survival. Before you judge me, though many of you already have, let me say this: I am a very good person, I think highly of myself as should everyone in order to succeed. I rarely tread on others and always try to help out the needy but the fact of the matter is I don’t like feeling restricted. I don’t think anyone likes feeling restricted. By giving some one a gift card to a store that they never shop in or never want to shop in is worse that just giving them a card that says Congratulations or Happy Birthday. To me a genuine well written letter would be better but still nothing beats cash. CREAM as people say. It is one of the truest sayings today. If you look at what our country is going through it is all monetary based. Here are some examples on how CREAM applies: 1. I want to drive to a friends house or the beach to hang out…( I needed money to buy the car, insurance, and registration) along with the gas to get there. 2. In order to succeed in life I need good education…well to get that I have to pay…( tuition, food, school supplies and other fees) and that’s only high school next is college and graduate school. Basically life is a whole lot easier with CASH.
