This I Believe

Being only 18 years old and not having graduated from high school yet, I know many of the things I believe will be tested and probably change many times in the future. However, I know that I have been raised by parents who have a strong set of beliefs which they learned from their parents and so on. I have been raised Catholic and believe very much in God but sometimes have a tough time wrapping my mind around the ideas proposed by religion. I am an extremely blessed individual; I have an amazing family and circle of friends. I think family is one of the most important things in life and can’t imagine life without mine. I cannot understand how people become estranged from family members because mine have played such a vital role in my life so far.

I believe that making and keeping strong relationships throughout life is necessary for a full life as well as learning as much information as possible through asking questions and challenging yourself. There are so many questions, however, that are frustrating and puzzling to me because no one has, or probably will ever have, the answers to them. I believe that people have certain values but do not always stick to them; not on purpose, sometimes it just happens that way.

Life is exhaustingly complicated to me, but at the same time it is fascinating and intriguing. I can’t wait to continue living life and continue to build my belief system in the future through the connections I have with others, and through the things I experience.
