Do you go to Church? Some people love going to mass. Others only go to mass when they are forced. Another group just goes every Sunday. That’s what the Bible says to do. Going to Church and going to Catholic School really shapes people.
I believe that going to Catholic School, and going to mass really shape who we are. There are people who are active participants in the mass. They really enjoy spreading the word of God. We may call them “Jesus freaks”. Then there is the group who is just there for the ride. These individuals believe in God, but they don’t participate very much outside of going to mass. Finally, there are people who reject God. They may not believe because that was the way that they were raised. Others might just be going through a phase where they are rejecting everything. Whatever the case, they don’t believe.
One of my friends has recently transferred to a Catholic School. I have noticed the change that the school has had on him. His relationship with God has really grown. Before transferring he was just one of those people who went to Church. He may have occasionally gone to youth group. However, that was about the extent of his relationship. Since then, his relationship with God has grown. His relationship with others has also matured. Many of his new friends are more God oriented. This change will affect him for the rest of his life.
Finally, there is the group of people who are known as “Jesus freaks”. One thing that I have always noticed about this group of people is that they are always happy. Every time that you see a priest or a sister they are usually smiling. They are at least in a pretty good mood. Some people may make fun of this group of people, but I’d bet that they are very content with who they are.
The decisions that we make are greatly affected by our faith. If you are blocking God out, you might be more likely to do something that you will regret. On the other hand, you may not. The relationship that we have with God affects each of us in a different way. No matter where He is in your life, our Lord keeps shaping who you will become. I never realized what God can do for me and for others.
