Life Gives Opportunities
I believe the following: “Learn as if you were to live forever; live as you were to die tomorrow” Another quote I like is this one: “Always take advantages of the chances you get in life because life is too short to spoil it.” This is the one that is the most popular with my mom.
One thing that really made me believe in this was when I didn’t care about school, and used to get really bad grades. I remember coming home from school one day, my mom was in the living room, looking pissed, but I didn’t have a clue why she would be mad. A couple minutes later she started telling me “Why do you go to school if you’re not going to try to get good grades”. Of course I didn’t care if she told me that because the grades were mine, not hers.
That same night she started yelling at me, telling me that I wasn’t worth anything if school was not on my mind. She said learn all you can, now that you are young and have the opportunity. My head spinning in circles thinking about what my mother had told me. Then I finally realized that the only reason why my mom doesn’t have a job is because she dropped out of school, and she doesn’t want me to end up like her. It’s not that she’s trying to make my life miserable. It’s that she wants a good future for me; she wants me to learn about how life works and how I will deal with plenty of difficulty during life.
I want to accomplish the things she never got to do, not just to make her think that I can do it but actually because I believe that I can to do anything I want in the future. I believe that if you don’t learn today you might not tomorrow or the next day. Then when you finally realize that you could have learned a lot of things, it is going to be too late to go back to school.
Never be scared to try new things because at the end of the day everything you have done is so worth it. Even if you know you’re going to live one more day, don’t sit there and make things wrong. Get up and discover what really life is about. There are people that don’t have the strength because they are either are blind, they can’t walk, or they can’t hear anything.
For example go out and meet new people, discover what they’re like and how different their life is compared to yours. I am not saying someone can do this is a whole day. The thing that matters is that you’re doing something for yourself. Teach other people that don’t care about life or that don’t find anything interesting about it. Life is beautiful even if you’re going the wrong way. Sooner or later it will get better.
