At first look, I might seem like your everyday encounter with a complete idiot. Whenever I meet a new person or make a new friend, I always seem, and act, like a complete moron. Later on in that relationship, I feel obligated to ask if they think I’m smarter than them, or not. They believe they are and try to convince me that they always do and turn in their homework and always make A’s in all of their classes.
But, no matter what I tell them, they still won’t believe that I have ever met someone that is truly smarter than me, or as smart as me. The case is the same for one of my close friends, who has an extremely gifted mind, like myself, but acts even more like an idiot. You might say he is worse at applying himself than me. I truly believe that he and I are smarter than any other people in our grade, or the one above ours.
This last summer, I went to Glorietta, New Mexico, for a mission trip/church camp. I had made roughly eighty or so friends in the two weeks that we were up there. On the last night there, we had lots of games for the last competitive challenge. When my group came across a challenge that needed intelligence, I stepped forward. Although some of the group was skeptical, if I was smart enough to beat the challenge, I had solved the puzzle with ease.
One other thing that reminds me of myself is Scalar Multiplication of Matrices. Just the sound of the name makes it seem like impossible math problems. Scalar Multiplication of Matrices is probably one of the easiest things I have learned in Algebra II this year. Now, another example is Slope. The sound of the name ‘Slope’ reminds me of kindergarteners going down a slide, cheering as they slide down the slanted piece of metal. Slope, for me, is probably one of the most tedious and boring things ever thought of, and just the sight of it makes me want to throw up, or just sleep through the rest of the class.
So, next time you meet someone and think about how intelligent, or stupid, they are, you should probably think twice, because they could be the next Einstein for all you know.
