Unleashing My Inner Nerd
“I unleash my inner nerd everyday at 3,” once said by my favorite singer. Most people think that is so dumb. To me it means being yourself, not what others want you to be. I am always crazy and weird no matter who I’m with or where I’m at. I do have some self-control, unlike some people who are always out of control. I just want everyone to be loose, yet still having some self-control. I, too, believe in ‘unleashing my inner nerd everyday at 3’.
I was never the popular kid. I was weird from the start. I remember my dad telling me some of the things I would say as a child like ‘mean he’ or ‘horn-a-corn’. I love doing crazy things, like climbing a huge tree, making mud pies, and my favorite, chasing my mom while I held squirming worms in my fists. I don’t do things like that anymore, now that I’m older. I don’t have many friends who are like me, but one. She is the best friend I’ve ever had.
She and I are so alike. We are always together, never apart. I love how I could say ‘yellow bot’ and she would know exactly what I’m talking about. Both of us love the Jonas Brothers. We talk about them all the time. We make jokes about them, like how Nick sounded like a girl when he made his first CD. We are so mean to them, yet we love them and their music so much. We can’t get enough of them. We do like other bands as well. She likes Kenny G, and I like Taylor Swift. I can always be myself with her; I never have to be someone else. We always have something to talk about; like this weekend we talked we talked about something on Family Guy, where one of the characters was at Taco Bell and ordered six chicken fajitas, but instead of ‘fajita’, he said the word for a female part, if you know what I mean. We laughed so loud. We really unleash our inner nerd when we’re together.
I know unleashing my ‘inner nerd’ may not be inspirational to you. I think it is. It defines my favorite singer and it defines me as well. I know who I am. I’m weird, crazy, hyper, strange and NERDY, but that’s what I love about me. I don’t know where I’m going, but I do know who I want to be. I want to be my all natural nerdy self.
