I believe it’s the littlest things in life that make life complete. Whether it’s receiving or giving a compliment or a slow bike ride around the neighborhood. It’s those things that make you happy and satisfied everyday.

Every single day, I always hear people talk about the newest technology and how they really, really want that. I’ll admit, I use to do the same thing but then one day it hit me that those things honestly don’t make me happy. Sure, the new cell phones are cool, but they don’t put a smile on my face or relax me everyday. I remember when I went on vacation, I watched the sunrise every single morning. My friend would always complain that it was way too early to do anything so I ended up always going at around 6 a.m by myself to the beach. When the sun actually started to rise, it was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. It was a shame there was only 1 or 2 other people on the beach with me to experience such a thing.

In life, we don’t need a fancy car. I’d rather drive a golf cart on the road and have the wind in my face. It’s the simpler things in life that make you happy and sometimes you don’t even realize it. Seeing my dog run around the yard and trip over his own feet makes me laugh- the new play station 3 doesn’t. I always see people who haven’t realized material possessions don’t mean anything. Their eyes are glued to there cell phone and don’t even realize that the sun is setting right in front of them.

It’s hard for me to understand why people don’t see the littler things in life. I don’t know why they’re eyes are focused on the television screen or the computer screen when there’s so many other things that could make you so much happier. My brother always wants to play videogames when he comes home from school and I always say to him “well, don’t you just want to play outside?!” and he always replies the same way “no, it’s boring”. Sometimes I think it’s just me, that I’m the only one who notices the apparent trivial things in life because I haven’t really met some one who thinks seeing the leaves on trees fall as something that gives you happiness.

So next time you’re sitting outside and playing with your cell phone or playing the DS, don’t forget to look up and around. You’ll be amazed at what you see.
