I AM WHITE and I went to Clinton School in the Cochran Projects from 1958 until 1962. I remember a specific summer day when I was about 12. I was at my sister Rosie’s(across the river from St.Louis) when a boy approached me. I will never forget his name. He said I lived in the projects with all the n- . I was shocked. He was very mean. He was taught to hate. I had black friends. My mama taught me that all people are the same. I CAN HONESTLY SAY I didn’t know there were people like that boy until that day.
