I believe that determination, hope, and prosperity can take one anywhere they want to go in life. Whether it’s learning how to stop on skis, or whether it’s learning how to do more advanced things like tricks, the motive is the same, determination. Every weekend when I buckle my boots, and strap on my helmet I think of the motive that keeps me going each day. Be the best you can be. My mindset, is the same. Do the best you can do.
It was a cold day, but I wouldn’t let it stop me. The gates were being whipped around because of the wind. As the gate keepers took their places, I took my place. The countdown was at 5… 4… 3… and off I went speeding down the course. Turn! Turn! Gain speed! Tuck! Those were my main thoughts, everything else was pushed toward the back of my mind. The finish was in sight! I did it! This great race wouldn’t have been so great if I didn’t train and practice constantly. Training like is more a task for me, a set of goals. Mental and physical goals. I believe that practice makes perfect, with practice one can easily reach success. Success is the rush of hope and prosperity I get when I have done well in a race, but none of this can be achieved with out training.
Train your heart out. Don’t stop until it’s time to perform, but when it’s not time to perform train. A continuous circle of determination, this I believe. True success comes from the heart and mind. To me, being the best you can be is success. One of the main keys of success is determination. Without it there would be no such thing as success.
As a young kid, skiing was my heart, and still is. When I go back and think about all of the maddening times I faced when I was younger and first learning how to ski, I think about the goals that where in my head at the time. Go fast, be strong, you can do it. Don’t’ give up. Those goals, that determination, the prosperity and hope that was running in my head led me to where I am today. A determined ski racer.
