Do you like making those close to you happy? Does bringing a smile to their face bring a smile to yours? I do. This is what I believe. I believe in helping those that I love. It makes my day by simply being there for them and being able to cheer them up. This is the action that keeps me going each day: knowing that I make a difference in their lives.
I believe that in order to make those you love happy, sometimes you must put them before your own needs. Whether it is swallowing your own pride or making some “them” time, they need to be number one on your list. Sometimes people are having a worse day than you are. This is a great opportunity for you to spend some of your energy making their day a little better. Why not? The only belongings it will usually cost you are a little bit of time and maybe, just maybe, some cash. In the long run, your small act of kindness will be well worth it.
Now one may ask, how does helping others benefit me? First off, why the heck are you thinking like that! Remember, this is about the other people. Secondly, when you make the people you love happy, they are more fun to be around. They also tend to repay the favor and cheer you up when you need it most. Lastly, it is just the right thing to do. If you want to be morally pure, this is one way to do it.
I get this certain feeling when I see those I love smiling. I can only describe it as a feeling of completeness and sheer joy. I’m not sure why I feel this way, but I do. This feeling is the main reason that I believe in making those close to me happy. It is ten times more addictive than any drug and gives me one hundred times more of a high. I am totally hooked in every sense of the word. This feeling is what keeps me going, and this feeling is what drives me to help those around me. I help them in order to help me.
