I Believe
I believe that football is a way of life for me and millions of people through out the world. I don’t know if it is getting up at 5:30 in the morning or the constant screaming I am hooked on it. I breath eat sleep football when I day dream that is what I think of there is not a day that I don’t think of my passion.
I have been taught and told ever since I could remember that the best feeling in the world is to run out onto the field on Friday night and be able to physically hurt someone and you can’t get in any trouble for it. Now that football is all over for me I see that I will miss it forever. See it’s hard for a football player to like football when you are actually playing it until it is all over. It’s like an empty whole that no matter what you do you can’t replace. About 3 months ago I would have told you the completely opposite thing than what I am saying right now I would have told you that I couldn’t wait for it to be over and that I would be forever happy. My dad and all my coaches along with any other ex football player told me to enjoy it now and get the most out of it while you can because when it is over its really over. I always thought that they were making it up I couldn’t have been any more wrong. Now looking back on how hard that I work and all the hours and tears of sweet that I have put in since 4th grade playing flag football to strapping on handy down shoulder pads and helmets in 7th grade. I see that it has been one of the best things in my life that I will cherish forever. No one will be able to take that away from me. It makes you a man and gives you certain qualities that no one that hasn’t played football don’t have. It has taught me that you have to work and work to get something you want nothing is just handed to you in the real world and football has shown me that. It gives you a sneak peak of what really happens out there. It shows that the world is cruel and you have to be able to stand up on your own two feet to survive on your own.
Another thing that comes from playing football is the work ethic that you need to have to survive one day out there. I always thought that I had a strong work ethic. And football has put that to the test and then some. When you are required to lift weights and stay in shape all summer long it takes some dedication and loyalty to the team and the your school to do that. When you spend most of your summer on the football field not at the pool you need every ounce of that dedication to go through with that day in and day out.
This is why I think that football is a way of life. It gives you skills to go out and be successful in your adult life. Along with the skills that it teaches you it gives you the time of your life if you can step up to the challenge and play the sport of football.
