Hard Work
I believe in hard work. In the growing technological world, I believe that hard work is crucial in keeping the human race diligent and motivated. This doesn’t mean manual labor, but rather, working hard and passionately on something you like; not giving up or relying on other people to fix your problems. Through hard work and perseverance, people will be happy with themselves and feel proud of whatever they have accomplished. Some people in the world fall backwards into things they don’t deserve, such as inherited money. If they rely on this substance that has been given to them rather than gained, I believe that although they may seem happy, these people often aren’t. Happiness comes from feeling a sense of worth and pride in oneself. Usually, laziness doesn’t result in happiness.
Although I come from a family that is fairly well off, I have always had to work for what I wanted, whether it was a new bike or just a meal at Taco Bell. I would do chores around the house or mow lawns for other people. I would walk dogs or get a part time job life guarding at a pool. Through these experiences, I have learned that real happiness comes from a sense of accomplishment. Sometimes, even working hard on something that is just for fun brings about the most joy. Once, my friend and I found an old, beaten up bike and took it home to fix it up and make it useable. We spent hours taking it apart, replacing parts that were broken and diligently painting the entire bike to our liking. After it was done, we were both very fulfilled with what we had accomplished. We worked hard on something that we liked doing, and in the end, although the bike never was fully functional, we both took great pride in our work. This moment of joy is something that I never hope to lose. Throughout my life I hope to always complete what I have set out to accomplish and work hard on any project that has been given to me. By doing this, I have faith that I will feel great pride with myself and be happy with whatever I have done.
This idea of hard work is something that I hope everybody in the world appreciates. The United States was built by people working hard and never giving up, demonstrated in the strong and determined spirit that surged through America on the eve of the Revolutionary War. Therefore, I hope that in the future, people across the world will take this sentiment of hard work and use it to accomplish whatever they set their minds to. Like our founding fathers, I believe that hard work will always triumph, leading to immense pride and self respect.
