I believe in taking risks. If you go through life just trying to get by and not embarrass yourself, you are never going to achieve anything. If you do the bare minimum to just get the grade or if you do what everybody else is doing just to fit in you are never going to be noticed and will never have your own identity.

People that don’t take risks usually are afraid of what might happen if they do. They are afraid that if they put themselves out there for everyone to judge they won’t like what people think. But the thing is that you need to be a risk taker to better yourself. Other people just sit on the sidelines hoping to not get noticed because they don’t really care or are just plain lazy.

I know that you need to take risks in life because I am afraid of putting myself out there. I don’t take risks because I don’t want to screw up. If I get an assignment and it seem like I won’t do very well on it, I won’t take the risk and just not do it. Then I do worse for not even attempting it. But then I just end up regretting myself for not taking a risk. Then I see the people that did take a risk and that it turned out really well for them. Then I think about what would happen if I had put myself out there to be judged and I was the hero. I always seem to be thinking about what could have happened if I had just had the courage risk looking like a fool. I recently realized that life is too short to always be wandering “what if”. You need to take advantage of every opportunity because you may only get one shot to show people who you really are. Even if it seems like you will get another chance, you may not take advantage of that next chance or the next one or the next.

Life is all about taking risks and rolling dice. Sometimes it isn’t going to turn out very well and other times it is going to turn out amazing. Whenever you get an assignment in school that seems too hard to fathom, just try it you might be pleasantly surprised. You need to your best no matter what because if you don’t then your true self will never be discovered. You need to take risks because it might turn out worse if you don’t even try. Taking risks is what it means to be alive because if you just sit there trying not to stand for fear of embarrassment then that really isn’t living is it. Taking risks is quintessential in living a happy life, this I believe.
