Growing up until now, I always played sports. Usually being picked last or really close to it, it was always very irritating.
But to me, I believe that everyone can get better and become what they want to be. It’s sometimes hard, but I’ve seen it first hand. Anyone who is willing to put in the time and effort can get anything they want. I truly believe that.
I have never really been the “Super-Man” of sports, but I have always played as much as I could. For as long as I have been able to, I played basketball, soccer, track, and even football. However, I was still no all-star.
After my 7th grade year, I kind of dropped all sports besides soccer. Soccer was always kind of my strong point, but I would not say I was that good. By my 8th grade year, however, I had become the best player I think I could be.
I was now leading my team at St. Philip Neri to an undefeated season and also my Midwest City Team. Also being the leading scorer in one of those leagues. I was dominating my league. I play as often as I can, and I finally believe I am the best I can be. In addition, I believe all people who want to keep at what they love can do just what I did. All the time I am helping my 6-year-old brother’s soccer team at practice, so that if they really want to they can become the best, they can be.
Being the best you can be has always been something I believe is possible for everyone. Also, I believe anything you want you can get if you put in the time and work for what you want. People sometimes think that if there not good at the start they will never be as good as some of their heroes or role models. Maybe people will not ever actually be as good as some of these heroes, but that does not mean they should not try. I know I will probably never be a professional soccer player, but at least I will know I tried my best and I am as good as I can with the talents God gave me. God blesses everyone with many different talents. Me, I was gifted at soccer. Maybe I wasn’t so gifted in getting my schoolwork done but that’s a gift someone else was lucky enough to receive.
So, this is what I believe: Everyone has gifts given to them by God, and to me not using a gift given to you by God is an insult to the one who gave his life for us. That is why I believe everyone should get better and become who they want to be. All you have to do is use the gifts God gave you and use them to the best of your abilities. This is what I believe.
