What would you do if one day you became blind? How would you go through the day? Would you be able to see beauty in all of the cloudiness of darkness? A paradox, that’s what I thought. How can you “see” beauty if your blind? It didn’t make any sense.
Our school assignment was to be blind a whole day and see how blind people experienced beauty. It might sound fun but it gets frustrating for a while. Going through the day without knowing what’s around the corner or the fact that you might walk into the wall its terrifying.
Sure it was fun the first hour, but people were trying to trip me that it just got really annoying. How could I be able to “see” beauty when people were just taking advantage of me? Not possible!
As I was walking around the school scared of tripping or falling down the stairs I felt this warm hand reaching mine and grabbing it really tight. Immediately all of my worries went away because I knew my friend would guide me to class. Even though her guidance wasn’t always safe, she made me feel secure and happy that she was taking some of her time to take me to class. She helped me all through the day, opening my locker, helping me in lunch, everywhere I went she was there by my side.
Not only my friend was helping me but other people I dint know too. There was one who helped down the stairs, and another one to my locker. Everywhere I turn there was one person willing to help me.
While I was walking around the school with my friend I found out what’s really beautiful; the willing to help others with nothing in return.
Another thing that I found out was beautiful were the voices of my friends guiding me through school. They were really warm and friendly; I’ve never noticed how they were until I stop focusing everything on my sight and start listening on all of the sounds around me.
I believe beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. This means that people’s actions are what beauty is all about.
Many people think that a model is beautiful, a butterfly or even a rose. But why can’t it be a helping hand? The warm feeling that it brings it might be even better than the other three.
The media is always telling everyone that a model is beautiful and that’s what the meaning of beauty is. So many people try to be like them not realizing that the most important thing is inner beauty not external.
Which one would you prefer, a good soul or a good body? A good body later would become old while a good heart would always be there.
Even though you made think someone is attracting, if their personality stinks than that might draw you away from that person. It doesn’t really matter how they look on the outside it just matters who they are on the inside.
The soul is the place where the real beauty and ugliness are hidden. And if you look deep inside you can see their true self’s.
In some movies the witch is portrayed like someone beautiful on the outside while on the inside she’s really rotten. Or better yet on the beauty and the beast, the prince is a monster on the outside but he’s really beautiful on the inside. And at the end he turns into this good-looking guy. So would it be better if we were all blind? We wouldn’t care about peoples appearances just on what’s on their hearts.
Beauty in the dictionary is the combination of qualities that make something pleasant and impressive to look at, listen to, touch, smell, or taste. But beauty means so many things to many people; it’s really hard to say what the real meaning of beauty is. Beauty can be a bird, a rose, a warm smile, love etc. But there’s one thing that we cant denied; beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
