This I Believe

“This I Believe”

I believe that the system that is running this country is more than a little backwards and it frightens me that people seem to be continuing to become more technologically advanced and communicating in more ignorant ways. I don’t understand how a country can do nothing about the atrocities that are plaguing itself but we are able to go to other countries and offer grief to some and assistance to others. It is extremely true that we can’t help others without helping ourselves first and because we spend so much time and effort on our appearance, we are losing sight of our responsibilities. Our own country is falling apart and it has been happening for a lot of years. I don’t know how people sleep at night knowing that we are allowing our citizens to take advantage of the system as long as they abide by it and if a person strays they are punished, either indirectly or with malice. I have worked in the human service field all of my life and I am not without the ability to see that our system protects those who are less fortunate, which is nice, but it is breeding apathy in the process. A person, most persons, won’t work, prevent pregnancy, clean up after themselves, show compassion for their family or others, if somebody else is always cleaning up after them. I have become jaded by others who those people and they are continuing to multiply and effect others rights.
