I am currently involved in creating a personal

seal for myself, that is a design statement of

who I am, and where I am heading. It is too

easy to get confused about one’s identity and

meaning and I think great gain can come from

reflecting on this image in making. It’s like, how much I gain from looking at my favorite picture, how much inner energy I receive from

those quotes I have plastered on my door, how

strengthened I am by the architecture of my

favorite building. Can inward gain come from

an outside element? Well, I hope to find out as my shaping takes place.

Maybe this would be a good idea for President

Obama (not that he does not know who he is),

but a representation of his stalwart conviction

about the nature of his leadership and the course of this nation the next few years.

Let’s hire a National artist in residence to

chronical these days as we experience them.
