I believe in thinking positive because you don’t know what you could do in till you try. This weekend I had to make a speech, I really didn’t think I could do it. I was so worried I didn’t know if I had it in me to do the speech. I started to research the topic I had to do for 3 straight weeks; it was finally time to prefect it. I corrected all errors and begin practicing using my family as an audience. When I started talking automatically my family found a problem with my speech, the way I was standing, speaking, everything. I stayed up until 3:00 in the morning practicing for my speech. I finally started to memorize the words in my mind. I am the type of person who gets stage fright, making speeches is the worst. I get scared when having to talk to a crowd. When I got to class that morning my teacher was waiting for students to volunteer to go first. Even thought I didn’t volunteer myself to go first, I did get the opportunity to go third. As soon as I got to the blackboard my hands started shaky and my palms started getting sweaty and my nerves were getting the best of me. I stood up tall, took a deep breath, and began to read my speech. My speech was about my 3 interests which are hair braiding, zodiac and vegetarianism. My speech was just 5 minutes. It was the best experience to go up. The whole time all I was thinking was “ I’m almost done. I can do it, I can do it.” When I finished my speech the class clapped and I sat down. When all the other speeches were done, the teacher asked to see me after class along with the other people who gave speeches.

When the teacher was ready, she spoke to us telling the class, “Susan’s speech was the best.” I didn’t expect her to say that. I couldn’t believe, me the girl with extreme stage fright would be able to give a speech better then most of the students with experience more than I. I was so pleased because I did well but also I got the opportunity to give the class a speech about something else that I strongly believe in. So just remember next time you think that you can’t do something, just think positively and everything will just fall into place. Don’t give up no matter what because if you are willing, there is a way to achieve what you want. I didn’t give up. If I can do it, so can you.
