Heaven is God’s dwelling place. It is where the ultimate alpha and omega resides. Some say it is where the good people go or where the Christians go after they die or are caught up in the rapture. But if all of that is true, then I wonder what it looks like. I think it is more than streets of gold pearly ivory gates with mansions and beautiful clouds. I believe that heaven is what you want it to be. As a Christian who has read the bible in its entirety I have came to my own conclusion on why heaven is what you want it to be. Since the bible doesn’t clearly tell you what heaven it’s like and I think that is for a reason. I believe that since God didn’t say it in the Bible, then he wants us to know what heaven looks like exactly. He wants to give us something to look forward to in the afterlife. In Luke 23:43 (New International Version) Jesus says to a man on the cross “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.” What is the paradise that Christ Jesus speaks of? The definition under Webster of paradise is a place of ideal beauty or loveliness, a place or state of delight. But however in Christian terms it is the abode of righteous souls after death; heaven. Paradise is not the same for everyone in this world. Everyone is happy in different places and also different things bring people delight. I conclude that it could not be the same delight for everyone on this planet because God made no two people alike but yet we are all made in his image.
On the other hand in Hebrews 11:10 (New International Version) it says “For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.” In Revelation 21:11 it says “It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.”18“The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.” 19“The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,” Also in verse 21 It says “The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.” The Bible is very clear about the heavenly city but it is not clear if there is one paradise for everyone but also there is in one heaven according to 2 Corinthians 12:2, so I ask again what paradise is to you because I believe that is heaven and it is what you want it to be.
