I believe in living your life. No people pleasing, no mantras, no trying to fit the status quo, just living. I believe in doing what you love and forgetting the rest. Trying to fit the mold inhibits you from fully enjoying what time you have left on this earth. I believe on focusing things that make you happy, like friendships, creativity, and music.
I get pleasure from the simple things in life, like the smell of a new book, the crunch of fall leaves beneath my feet, the smell of coffee when I wake up in the morning, and laughing until my ribs hurt. I live my life the way I want to; freely. I no longer rely on others around me to determine my mood, I no longer stress about things out of my control, and I go with the flow.
I surround myself with people who enrich my life, and leave room for human error. People are always going to let you down, but it’s your choice if you let it affect you. My belief is simple and has been repeated endlessly, but there is truth in it. No one knows what you want, need, or should do better than yourself.
Bending backs to please people is a waste of time. I used to be a slave to pleasing people, and only saying what others wanted to hear, and I lost myself. It took a while to regain my life, but when I did, there was nothing more satisfying than taking a step back and realizing I was completely myself again.
I say don’t be afraid to ruffle some feathers, and don’t try to sugarcoat your thoughts, and stay true to yourself. I do as I desire, I cut out people who bring me down, and I am completely free.
