I have many beliefs and live my life according to these values and ideals. One belief that I feel strongly about and think the world is lacking in is hard work. The world is full of get rich quick schemes and 9 to 5 desk jobs that involve no effort at all. People are playing the stock market hoping to double their money just by investing. Americans want to become rich and wealthy but they don’t want to work for it.
My dad made sure to teach my brothers and I how to work hard growing up. He taught us that it is important to work hard for everything that we have. He didn’t just tell us, he showed us. He would bring us to work with him at a young age so we could watch him in action.
My dad builds houses and I can remember times when he would be gone when the sun came up and come home long after it had gone down. 60 to 70 hour weeks are normal for him. When people say that he is spoiled because he has nice things I just say, “He earned every bit of it.”
It has become very evident to me during these economic hard times how important hard work is. While people are losing everything because they were so in debt or because they had invested in the stock market hoping to get rich, my dad has been able to maintain a steady flow of business and be virtually unaffected by the economic crunch.
My dad has been a good example to my brothers and I. I am glad he taught me because you will never fail in life by working hard, only succeed.
