I believe in having fun in history class. I like that when I walk into history, my teacher will be there holding a yellow tennis ball. I will never forget that time that he threw it and narrowly missed a classmate’s head. I love the random comments about how hot Harry is and how much Vicky loves Channing “Tater.” I learn about my friends’ history, not just the intriguing Stamp Act Congress. I believe in having fun in history class because I believe that laughter and fun and learning should all go together.
If you can’t have fun in class why would you look forward to it? I like history, not as much as English and some other classes, but without the silliness and laughter I don’t think I would enjoy the class. It isn’t always fun when we have to be serious and take notes, but my teacher keeps the craziness coming. He will throw a tennis ball around, and who ever catches it answers the question. He has also let us watch movies and joke around. We play games to prepare for tests and my teacher trademarks funny things like his crooked “J.”
I have made more friends in that class than in the whole school. They are just as fun and exciting as my history teacher. They make me feel welcome in a new school. They have also helped me adjust to the crazy bell schedule and the hectic life that comes along with four honors classes. History class gives me the laughter and support I need everyday to keep going, and without it, I think I’d have to cry.
I’m always happy on days that I have history because I get to learn something new and enjoy a few laughs. There should always be at least three jokes and one of them has to involve my teacher’s friend, David. I will always dread the bell going off and forcing me to go to my next class. My other classes are fun, but they aren’t history and there aren’t any near death experiences involving neon yellow tennis balls. I believe in having fun and laughing when you learn. I believe in having fun in history class.
