People always assume that my twin sister Brittany and I are exactly the same. They think that because we look so much alike we must like the same things and think the same way. This is not true; we are as different as anyone else and their brother or sister. We like different food, clothes and different subjects in school. We have some separate friends and spend a lot of our free time doing different things. I like being active, camping , and be outdoors more than she does. Brittany likes to do hair and make-up and being more girly. Ever since I can remember we have done all we could to try to show that we are different. When we were younger we intentionally chose certain colors to help people tell us apart, I always wore pink and she always wore purple and we never switched. Now that were older I have blonde hair and she dyed her hair brown. Over the years we have found that no matter how much we change the way we look people still don’t remember who is who. If you just spend a little time with us and get to know our personalities you would never have a problem telling us apart again, no matter how we dressed or what color our hair was. I believe everyone is unique and is born with his or her own personality.
I think it’s important to treat each person as an individual and not just another person, I know how it feels to feel like no one cares to get to know who you are and assume that you’re the same as someone else. It has always been one of my biggest pet peeves when people count Brittany and I as the same person. People think it’s funny to call her and I by the same name or mix our names together and call us Brookany to make it easier for them. There are people who have known me my whole life who still can’t tell me and her apart, they just don’t take and time. People who have known me for just a few days can tell us apart right away.
Everyone has something special about them that makes them different from everyone else. No one does everything the exact same way as anyone else. Some believe that a person is who they are because of their religion, family traditions, culture, and experiences and so on. This has some truth to it but I believe each person is born with their unique personalities, Brittany and I are a perfect example we have been raised alike but are personalities are unique. This is what makes everyone special. If we were all the same then life would be boring no one would have anything special about them. I enjoy meeting new people and getting to know what makes that person unique.
Over all I I’m glad that I’m not exactly like anyone else. I believe everyone is unique and is born with his or her own personality. I’m a perfect example of this.
