I believe that limitations should be put on abortions, or they should become illegal altogether. There are too many young women having sex, getting pregnant, and subsequently having an abortion. It’s not right. They should have to deal with the choices they have made. If they do not want the child they conceived, they can always put it up for adoption, instead of killing an innocent, unborn baby. I believe that life starts at conception and that an unborn child is a human being. I also disagree with the government providing funds for abortions. It is almost like the government is agreeing with their actions and that it is ok to have an abortion. As a young woman, I do not understand how women can have an abortion because I know if I was ever put in that situation it would not even be an option.

Another reason I do not believe in abortions is because there are so many women in today’s society who are not able to have children. I know this from firsthand experience. My aunt, great-aunt, and second cousin were not able to have children, which makes me really nervous because getting married and having a family of my own has always been a dream of mine and I am hoping that one day it will come true.

In 2000, 1.31 million abortions occurred in the United States, meaning that nearly 3,600 abortions took place every day. Fifty-two percent of the women having an abortion were under the age of twenty-five: twenty percent were teenagers and thirty-two percent of the women were between the ages of twenty and twenty-four. Eighty-eight percent of abortions occurred during the first trimester. I believe that something needs to be done and soon because there are too many innocent babies dying.

In conclusion, I believe that abortions should be illegal and like any other crime, it should carry some type of punishment. If a woman and her partner are not ready to take on the responsibility of a child, then they need to use protection, birth control, or be abstinent. In my opinion, the only legitimate reasons an abortion should be allowed would be if a woman was raped or if there were certain medical complications that placed the lives of the mother or child in danger. Although unless I was put in that situation, I am unsure of how I would react.
