This I Believe

I believe that everyone needs a best friend. In life you come across many different experiences. Some are good and some are bad. You come up to many roads and you don’t know which one to take. In my life I have my best friend Marissa.

Ever since 6th grade if I had a problem or hard choice to make I would always go to her for help. It was way easier talking to her than a parent or teacher just because she was my age. I was pictured a best friend that you can always go to for support. They are always there to pick you up if you have fallen. Every time me or Marissa have a problem we go to Starbucks the next morning. We will just get a coffee and talk. This always seems to help.

Sometimes people don’t have a best friend. I always feel bad because I’m sure they have good friends but not one that they can rely on for everything. I’ve seen many of them that had an issue and had nobody to talk about it with. They were lost and didn’t know what to do. Also, I’ve seen those people get into drugs and make bad choices. I’m not saying that this happens to everyone without a best friend but it’s just that there is a higher chance for it.

One of my good friends had a best friend that started to make bad choices. She thought at first that she would be okay and not get too deep into trouble. Her friend then started doing really bad drugs. She started taking money out of her wallet when she was sleeping just to afford them. My friend decided that she wasn’t sure if hanging out with her anymore was the smartest choice. She didn’t want to be involved with a person like that and develop the reputation her friend of developing. Then it hit her that she needed to help her friend. She started off by talking about it with her and tried to get her to slow down but it did not work. She made the choice to invite her friend’s sister to lunch one day. She told her what was going on and hoped she would be able to help. She left her to make the decision to tell her mother or not. Now that her friend has had some help she is doing a lot better and going to class everyday. If she was not to have a best friend like my friend than who knows what kind of mess she would be in today.

This is why I strongly believe everyone should have a best friend. It could be your boyfriend or girlfriend, you sister or brother, or just a kid from school. It doesn’t matter you just always need that persons support. It makes life a lot more fun, better, and easier.
