Parents Can Be Your Best Friends

I believe that kids should have good relationships with their parents. I have a good relationship with my parents and I feel like I can tell them anything and I know they will always have my back whenever I need them. There have been many times my parents and I have just sat down and talked about stuff. I know anything I tell them they will actually listen whereas my friends do not always listen and they do not always care. My parents made sure I had a good relationship with them because they had good relationships with their parents and knew how important it was to have that type of a relationship. Without the relationship it is like you are living in a house full of strangers. Having a good relationship with your parents is not always easy when they say no to something you really want to do like date someone. That is what happened to me. I really wanted to date a guy who had hit girls before. I did not even think not to tell my parents. It just came out in a normal conversation we usually have. Needless to say my parents told me I could not date him. I was so mad and I thought I could never tell them anything ever again. Now that I look back on it I am glad they protected me and told me I could not date him. Now I know I can tell them anything and they will always protect me. I really appreciate the relationship my parents and I have together. Good relationships with parents make the home life better and less stressful for everyone. When you grow up just think of the type of relationship you want to have with your kids.
