support the military

This I Believe

When war is raging upon the earth, you see many different people fighting for what they believe in. The war that is going on right now within this modern era is no different. There have only been changes in how the wars have and will be fought, not in the reason of why they are being fought, or where they are being fought. The United States itself was formed as a consequence of war. For all of the naysayer’s beliefs that wars never do good. There are many things about the war that nobody will ever see, the freedoms that we enjoy being passed into another group of people so that they may be able to say “I love my country and the freedoms it provides me.”

When I left home for basic training, my mom was there crying, my dad just said take care of yourself, my little brother showed no interest. Now its about the same, I still have never been over seas, yet I see a difference in the way the general public respond to people in the military. When I have my drill weekend, I may have to stop by the local Wal-Mart to get something that I need at home; and 99% of people that look at me and actually say something will say thank you, or if you need anything just ask. I’ve even had items paid for by other people just because they like what the military provides for them.

But then there is the 1%, they are the ones that will come up to you and challenge everything that you believe in. they say that the country is wrong for being in the war, yet, I’ve never been to war so I don’t know where the point of view could come from. They challenge and say that if you are in the military you support the war, with no movement to hear your side of the story.

All I can ever say is its just business, not personal. Plus, always adding the line which stings them as I say it, “IF YOU ENOY THE FREEDOMS THAT YOUR UNITED STATES MILITARY PROVIDES, YOU SHOULD SUPPORT THE MILITARY EVEN IF YOU DON’T SUPPORT THE WAR, OR WE COULD GIVE UP AND YOU COULD BE KILLED FOR USING YOUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH TO DEGRADE SOMEONE WHO IS WILLING TO GIVE UP EVERYTHING THEMSELVES TO DEFEND YOUR RIGHTS, EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE WILLING TO GIVE UP NOTHING.” This I believe.
