I have always been taught that when you really want something you must not be greedy and wait patiently and you will receive it sooner or later. I truly believe that if you do this you will either get what you want, or more than what you wanted or needed, but in a good way. Through experience I have learned that if it never happens, then it was never meant to be and that I am better off without it.
Waiting patiently and doing the right thing has helped me accomplish many goals. It has helped me become part of the Softball and Volleyball team at my high-school and has helped me understand why we should appreciate the little things we have and not overlook them like we often do. Also waiting patiently and not being greedy has helped me understand that if you work for the things you receive, you accomplish more in the end. You will receive what you have been striving for, and will look like the better person in the end.
I have also learned that waiting patiently and not being greedy helps you discipline yourself. Now, when I really want that new iPod or that new CD, I automatically tell myself to wait for it because I know that I will receive it sooner or later. Even though it is hard for me to tell myself to wait sometimes, I remind myself that it always benefits me in the end to wait.
If everyone were to try this I really think that many people would be kinder and much more patient with each other in life. I can’t think of anything more irritating than when I am shopping, or just walking past a place and I can hear someone whining because they can’t have what they want right away. If people would just relax and understand that you just have to wait for some things, I think that things would not be so rushed and tense in today’s world.
