I believe that love conquers all. I believe that love has the power to fight the battle of life. Without the guiding light of love, our paths would be blinded by the horrors of reality. Love has the capability to help us escape into the realms of another world – a world full of dreams and aspirations. The love I have received from others, including my family and friends, is the love that continues to build and mature. The complex emotion, that I wish I could define, motivates me to become a better person. Love inspires me every day and allows me to grow in so many ways. About three years ago, one of my closest friends committed suicide. I can still remember the moment we received the dreaded phone call and rushed over to her house. I can still remember the shock I felt when I heard she was gone. That night, I forced myself to be strong for her family. I believe its love that pulled our families through that day. It’s love that allowed us to move on, knowing that she would always remain in our hearts. Love allowed me to grow in that the loss I faced simply motivated me to love more deeply. Her death showed me how to love myself and express my love for others.

I believe that love can also spark the burning passion within our souls. This passion glows as we are able to accomplish what we believe in the most. This past summer, I graduated from my classical Indian dance training, Bharatnatyam, by performing a two-hour solo recital. My love for dance ignited my passion to complete my goal, a goal I had been inching towards for eleven years. The moment I stepped on that stage, adrenaline bursting through my body, is when I knew the power of love. Without love, passion, and sincere dedication, the performance would have been unfeasible.

I believe it is this same passion and devotion that leads one to believe that they are made for someone else. I for one believe that my soul is bound to someone else’s. Perhaps I already know him; perhaps I have yet to find him. It is this mystery that guides me every day. To find that someone whose soul is intertwined with yours, that someone who you’re willing to give up the world for; that’s a miracle. I believe in waiting for love to come to you, rather than constantly chasing after it. What is meant to be, will always find its way, regardless of the obstacles life places in front of us. Stories of Romeo and Juliet, and Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth continue to inspire me. Without their tales leading the way, I would not believe in the power of love. True love is irreplaceable and its power is undeniable. To deny its existence is to deny life itself. To love is to breathe. To love is to live.
