I believe Michael Jordan is a hero not only to sports fans but to everyone one who is knowledgeable about his accomplishments. He lived his career with few problems with the media and lived a legacy that no one has or ever will live up to. He was an NBA champion six times, achieved the Most Valuable Player award five times, and defensive player of the year once. He achieved all of these awards even after his high school basketball coach cut him from the team because he was not good enough. His competitiveness drove him to work hard and to prove his coach wrong and to become the best basketball player ever.

Michael’s ability to change a game was unmatchable because he was put in many situations to win games and many times he made the game winning shot, for example the Chicago Bulls were down with less than ten seconds to go in the game in the NBA finals and he went up the court did a crossover dribble and made an impossible shot as the game clock hit zero just after the ball left his hand. His competitiveness was also something to look up to; he played the game to win not for a pay check. It actually bothered him to lose and he would never go out without a fight, for instance he hated losing so bad that when his college basketball coach beat him in a friendly game of pool Michael left the pool hall mad and did not talk to his coach for several days after he lost. The amazing part about Michael Jordan is that he achieved all of these awards even though he took two years off of his basketball career to pursue a career in Major League Baseball. What makes Michael Jordan a hero is not only his achievements on the court but the achievements off the court.

Michael believes in supporting a lot of different charities which help people as much as he can. He has always been a supporter in the boys and girls club, various college funds, and several special Olympic activities. He also has a celebrity golf outing every year in which all profits go to the winners charity of choice. Michael also has a clothing line that gives millions of dollars in profits to various charities, gives clothes to the less fortunate, and also gives many Americans a great place to work. He has always been a huge supporter of helping people with their problems and the people who are less fortunate. For someone to be

‘ Everything that Michael Jordan stands for I like to try and model my life after him. I have the same level of competitiveness as him trying to do the best that I can in many situations. I also like to think when I have something others don’t I love to be the person that looks out for others or give them what I have to offer. I truly believe that the things he does inspires me to be a better person and I hope that others can learn about his life and inspire them to be better at life than they are now.

Michael Jordan had to overcome adversity even at a late stage in his life by being told he was not good enough by his high school coach. Even after the adversity he overcame and all the money he made it did not change him. He continued to be a model citizen giving back a lot of his money and supporting people that did not have the ability that he was blessed with. I believe what Jordan accomplished gives me a new light in my life, which encourages me to not give up and fight threw though my critics to me that is a hero.
