I Believe in the Sounds Of Music
Throughout my life music has shaped my me in many ways. I believe in sounds of music because it is the bridge between all the cultures of the world, it can greatly change the attitude of a person, has the ability to express all the thoughts and feelings of a single individual, and tell a great story at the same time. I love listening to all types of music from all different eras including The Beatles, Dave Mathews Band, Bob Marley, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Dispatch.
My experiences with music have brought me many interesting ideas about the effects of music. While listening to music my mood can vary in so many ways, depending on what i am listening to at the time. For example if i was listening to “Cannonball” by Damien Rice, then i would become very calm and mellow; opposed to if i am listening to a song like Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, then my mood would become more tense and excited. These are just a few examples of how the sounds of music can change my attitude.
Within many songs the artist expresses his or her feelings or beliefs about aspects of politics, religion and justice. The song “Get Up Stand Up” by Bob Marley describes how a one should stand up for oneself and protect the rights they deserve and since Bob Marley, being as popular as he was, spread his beliefs through his music to listeners across the world.
Music is also a great way that artists are able to tell stories. Almost all songs are stories to be told about the experiences of the writer including hardships, love, or happiness.
Music is a language that all cultures can learn and understand. I believe in the sounds of music being the one way that everyone can understand each other even of different cultures, languages, and religions.
