Living life at your own stride.

I believe in living everyday as if it were your last. This means doing what your heart desires. I have only believed this for a few years. But in these recent years it has become my deepest belief. This belief has shaped the way I’ve lived life.

This belief became part of me a few years ago, when my father someone who was very near and dear to me past away. He passed before I was able to get to know him as well as I would like to. This taught me that that life could throw tragedies at you when you least expect it and hit you like a glass of water in the morning.

Some people think this belief is cliché and cheesy. But when you ask someone who has lost someone or has been hit by the cold hard slap of life, I’m sure they will tell you that this belief is not cheesy or cliché, but a very quintessential way to live life by. They would say this because they have felt the deep regrets that only a major loss can cause.

This belief has pushed me to new limits. Pushed me to exiting new things. I wouldn’t be doing some of the things I love to do today. Snowboarding I trembled with fear at the top of my first run but pushed forward for my belief. Then there’s football I was so nervous as I was thrown into my first tackling drill. These are both things I was nervous about trying but did because of my belief and in the end I loved. .

To me this belief constitutes many things. It means getting to know everyone close to you as well as you possibly can. It means telling people good-bye like it is the last time you will ever see them. It means taking your hearts desires without hesitation. But most of all it means living without regrets. I think my belief is summed up best by a quote from the Dalai Lama “Every day, think as you wake up, Today I am fortunate to have woken up, I am alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it.” That is my belief living life to the fullest. Living without a regret to tie you too much into the past and make you look back. My belief is part of my core my heart, my soul, it came from a sad moment in my life, a moment that shaped a lot of things in my life. My belief has made me a better person.
