“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (I Thessalonians 5: 16). Faith is an important asset for family life. My family gets together during holidays every year. It is our tradition to go to our church service during every holiday, as well as every Sunday, and then go to my house or my Grandpa and Grandma’s house for a family meal. Then, either my dad or my grandpa says a meal prayer and we get to eat. Every night at supper, my family tries to find time to read a passage from the Bible and a devotional.
I try to put my faith and God at the forefront of everything I do in my life. Before I go hunting or play in a sporting event, I pray and ask God to allow me to have fun and not get injured. I also do this before a road trip or a long bus ride. It really helps to know that God is protecting me when I am in the woods or on a long trip. My mom and dad tell me that it is a good idea to pray before any big event in my life, and to begin each day with a prayer asking God to guide and protect me.
My faith has been strengthened in the past few years going through high school and maturing into a better person. High school has definitely tested my faith over the years, but I feel, so far, I have endured all the tests with the help of God. I know God will not lead me astray, if I trust in him. I know that my faith will only be stronger after high school, so I am not afraid of my future. I believe praying and keeping faith strong is important for a person to mature and grow through high school in the right way. That is what my parents have told me and taught me since I was a little boy sitting in Sunday school.
