What makes me a dancer.

I believe that you do not have to be a good dancer to be a dancer. I believe that you just have to love it. You need to have a passion and a drive. You need to know your strengths and Limitations. And most importantly you can never let anyone tell you that you are not a good dancer.

When I was younger I would dance around my house, and I would put on shows for my parents. I never really considered being a dancer and taking lessons. Once I started, I loved it. It has not only become just some after school, and now during school activity, it has become my life. A dancer needs to look forward to her dance lessons, and not just do them because their parents are making them go. Dance should be your passion.

My favorite class is ballet. I never thought that I would be able to do ballet because of my body. When I was at my first recital, I saw one of the teachers, Miss Jessie, do a Pointe solo I saw hoe beautiful it was and I knew that I wanted to take that class. The next year I still did not do it, even though I really wanted to try it. When I heard about this school, I knew that it was the perfect opportunity. When I got in I was really happy, because now I had no choice but to jump in. Miss Jessie, was really my inspiration, if I had never seen her solo, I would have never have even thought about going to this school, and my life would be totally different.

I like being a dancer because, get to see all of the things that my body does. If I hadn’t become a dancer, then I would have never in 100 years have ever thought that I could do a split. It has made me realize my strengths and weaknesses. I never thought of tap dancing as something that I would ever take seriously. When I started taking it I realized that it was something I liked to do, and I was really good at it. I also have to acknowledge my weaknesses, because unfortunately every dancer has some. I realize that for a person with my body type, it is going to be a lot harder to get on Pointe. Be that as it may, I will never stop persevering to get there.

In three years, I would like to be applying for Julliard. I love the fact that even now I can go to school to dance. After college, I would love to go to Broadway. I want to dance in musicals, and ballets. Also it would be great if I could be like an extra in a dancing movie. A dancer thinks about his or her future. We think that nothing is impossible if we keep trying.

I believe that I am a dancer on the outside and the inside. A dancer thinks that everything is a dance, even if it doesn’t seem like it to others. Yes there is a technical side to dance, but true dancing comes from the Heart. That is what I believe.
