I believe an individual can make mistakes and learn from them; a society never learns. Whenever we listen to a news story about an introvert or outcast who goes berserk, we look closely at all those who might have had a chance of catching the individual. We never look at society’s causal role in the incident, nor on anything society AS A WHOLE might do to limit such occasions. Folks, it’s a tough world out there, true scruples are hard to find, and if we don’t offer true assertiveness training for all, we will just have to keep revising our body count.
