Have you ever wondered what it takes to become really good at something? Well I have. As an athlete I have never been really good at any sport.

I started playing competitive soccer in fifth grade, tryouts for the sixth grade seasons I got cut. If you can image I was crushed but it made me the athlete that I am today. At first I felt like quitting but I couldn’t my heart wouldn’t let me. I wanted to be on the A team for my soccer club and so I had to go from juggling a soccer ball two times to sixty, seventy, and up from there. After putting my hard work in I was able to earn my spot on the team.

Getting cut in sixth grade made me realize that I was only given so much talent and I wasn’t given a lot of it. It also made me realize that what I had was heart. Talent is wasted if you don’t have heart. You can not become all that you can be without the passion and heart for whatever it is you do. Having heart means you want it so bad you’ll do anything.

You have the talent, heart, and desire to do it but you’re not there yet, you need hard work. You have to work hard in order to get what you want. The only reason that I have gotten were I am today as an athlete is through hard work, practice, practice, and more practice. Going outside to mess around with a soccer ball and running on my own to stay in shape was the hard work I had to do to achieve my goals. It was not easy there were times when I just did not want to practice but heart kicked and made me practice. Without hard work you can’t get better and you can’t achieve a goal without getting better.

Now looking back at all my hard work and practicing I realize that god didn’t make anything in life that is worth it easy. Many things in this life are hard but if you’re like me when you’ve earned it you feel great. So when achieving a goal if you got the heart and just a like bit of talent and a lot hard work when you finally achieved your goal you feel like your on top of the world.

I believe that in order to be good at something you have to have a pinch of talent, lots of hard work, and more than anything a lot of heart. Heart; the place where the desire to succeed is found and the drive to become something great.
