I believe that race plays too major of role in society. I believe that Caucasians are the ones who are put under the most scrutiny for it. I believe that your race shouldn’t play a role in receiving scholarships or getting accepted to colleges. I believe that everyone should be considered equal.
I am not writing this to tell you that Caucasians are worse off in society, because they aren’t. I am simply trying to point out how far our society has come in that racism plays such a major issue. I can guarantee that someone will find this essay offensive to them but if they just take the time to look at it from a broad perspective, then they will understand where I am coming from.
Why is it that if I start a Caucasian influenced club at my school it will be considered racist? Why is it that college’s give away scholarships to minorities just because of their race? Why is there a set number of students of each race that a college must meet every year? Why isn’t there a Caucasian history month? Why isn’t there a National Caucasian Merit Scholar?
I am sure you could give me some answer for all of the previous questions like “They have less opportunities” or, “We need to help out minority races.” I am not saying that these are wrong answers. All I am trying to say is that people should all be given the same opportunity and that whoever works the hardest for it deserves it. You shouldn’t be handed something just because of what or where you are born. This nation is not truly equal and I doubt it will ever be. I just want it to be a place where people who work the hardest get to the top, no matter their race. I believe that you shouldn’t be given something but rather you earn it.
