“This I Believe”
If I were to make a list of all the people I trust in the world my family would by far be on top of the list. I believe in family unity, and I think it’s the foundation for shaping who I am and what I’ll become later in life. Family should be something people can always fall back to when in trouble. Family is where unconditional love is a constant and there’s forgiveness no matter the fault.
Once upon a time, I wanted to go to a friend’s house for a poker game and my parents said I could go as long as I stayed off the streets after curfew. Well I broke their promise and I was pulled over shortly after when curfew came in effect. That night I couldn’t sleep and I had an upset stomach because I was nervous about their reaction. The next morning, I went home and found they were understanding and didn’t freak out at all that I did exactly what they told me not to do. I felt bad about letting them down but they reassured me it was okay and from then on I knew I could rely on my family for anything.
My mom always says that friends come and go, but a caring family is always there for you. So I encourage you to speak to your parents because they are one of the few people in the world that actually give a damn about you. I know family sometimes don’t always agree about something, but they are still family and their love is constant.
