I Believe in happiness
I believe in happiness. I believe in living life in ways that affirm happiness. I believe happiness is essential to life and achieving happiness is my primary objective to living. Without happiness, living would be almost unbearable. One way of stretching toward happiness is to maintain physcial health by eating moderately and nutritiously, exercising regularly, and emulating a healthy life style. Another way of striving toward happiness is to pursue a meaningful life. To me, this means to live content with life’s essentials rather than life’s excesses, to be wealthy in knowledge and experiences instead of rich in material “things.”, to enjoying one’s endeavors – interests, hobbies, and jobs, to study diligently, to think reflectively, to talk quietly, and to act purposefully. Stretching toward happiness is accepting what comes easily and what comes with blood, sweat, and tears. I believe happiness is more important than wealth, popularity, and intelligence, since there is no evidence that these make a person happier.
I believe honesty is an essential way of achieving part of life’s happiness. If honesty is the human capacity and quality of acting truthfully and fairly, as best one is able, then honesty is related to truth as a value. I believe telling and acting the truth is very important. When I really understand and acknowledge my behavior as truthful, honest, and moral, I am happy. Everyone has the power to be honest and truthful, but the hard part is choosing when to use these attributes. All humans need to follow their minds and hearts to do what is right and moral while respecting others and maintaining integrity.
I believe another way to discover the power of happiness is by finding love. Knowing someone loves me completely, without boundaries, and unconditionally grounds me in happiness. Loving a pet, an idea, or a hobby brings happiness. I believe that love is the most powerful human emotion, and I believe that without love many of the greatest things in the history of the world would not have occurred. Love drives us to perform actions that we normally would not do, and it compels us to pursue things that are important to us. In my experiences, those who have some type of love in their lives are happier, and have something to look forward to at the end of the day.
I believe in the happiness of individuality. I believe I am happy when I am enjoying who and what I am. I believe I need to be my own person and follow my own beliefs and ideas in becoming my own, unique person. I believe I can become my own person by engaging in what I enjoy, instead of listening to others and basing my decisions on others’ ideas and thoughts. I believe in allowing the spiritual and undefined parts of whom and what I am to emerge and grow through my common day to day routines and rituals. I am my own person with my own personality and I am unique. Being unique and different and exclusive is what makes me special. If I am exactly who and what I desire to be, instead of trying to be like someone else, then I believe I will be happy.
