This I Believe
I have seen people who, upon hearing the words ‘faith’ and ‘God’, especially when used in the same sentence, are turned off by the idea, shocked at the notion that anyone could believe in something so…unreal. Something intangible. But why? Everyone has faith, not necessarily faith in God, but faith in anything. Faith in their family, faith in others, in the government, or even just faith that the sun will rise each morning. Simple faith like this, faith that may seem insufficient is a lifeline to us in our daily lives. Without faith in something, what do you have to live for? What makes you go on each day, face the challenges at work or school? There would be nothing.
Some people have faith in themselves, faith that they will rise above their trials, or that they will survive until the next day. I have faith in many things, but my main lifeline is my faith in God. I will not preach to you, or try to make you change your beliefs. Please do not take it that way, I cannot express my thoughts without talking of my personal belief. I simply wish to share my faith with the world, maybe prove that some teenagers live for more than sleep. I have a strong conviction in God, gained through my family and our religion, because without God, what is there really? Not much. You would have nothing to live for, no true reason to better yourself, because once you die, you are simply ended, all your self improvement is wasted. I cannot believe that that is everything in life, all that we have as the human race. There must be something more. My faith in God has kept me from making many, many mistakes. I have not done drugs, taken alcohol, and I don’t swear. I live a clean life, but not a boring one.
I believe that part of the reason why people commit horrible crimes, such as murder, rape or kidnapping is because they have lost faith. Not necessarily faith in God but faith in anything. Faith is the one thing to keep us going, to help us get up after we fall. Faith encompasses hope, prayer, wish, and belief, all of which are necessary to keep us up. Faith is a lifeline, a personal light to help us find our way through life. Where is your faith? Mine is in God.
