This I Believe

Throughout your lifetime, there will be many people that will change and alter your existence in many ways. Some of them will be people that you are extremely close with. Others may be people that you don’t even know. You can never quite identify when one single event will completely change the course of your entire being. It takes one place, one person, and one spilt second for anything to happen. That is why, all the way throughout your existence, timing is everything.

It doesn’t matter where you are going, or what you are doing. Anything can happen, anywhere, be it good timing, or bad timing. You never consider stopping and thinking that when you are walking down the street, a random person that you bump into could end up being someone that you spend the rest of your life with. It is a crazy thought, but weirder things have happened. You could be sitting on a crowded train car, and the person sitting next to you, could very well end up becoming your best friend.

The summer before my freshman year of high school, I was standing with a group of people at an LTHS football game. I was about to leave, when a friend of mine, Joe, stopped me and asked me to walk with him to find some of his friends. I figured that I had time, so I decided to go with him. When we found them, he introduced me to several of his friends that he had gone to middle school with. I had recognized one of the girls from the cross country team, Lottie. We started talking, and from then until now, almost a year and a half, we’ve become best friends. That one moment when I was introduced to her became life changing me for me, because I had developed a new friend that would ultimately become one my best friends. Timing had everything to do with this life changing experience. If had chosen to leave instead of stay, I probably would never have met Lottie, and then I wouldn’t have one of my best friends.

Being in the right place at the right time had a lot to do with my experience. But along with good timing, there is also bad timing. No matter where you are, if something is meant to happen, then it will happen. Many people say that one person can change your life, while I agree with that, I would also have to say that one moment can greatly alter your life as well. That is why I believe that timing is everything. This I believe…
