i don’t wanna be in that place anymore

I was born in Thailand refugee camp. I grew up in Thailand refugee camp and lived in there for 14 years. I have made one big decisions in my life. It was the most important decision I have ever made. On June 10, 2010, I left a Thailand refugee camp to come to America. When I arrived in here, I realized that it was the best decision that I have ever made in my life. I have a chance to start my new life in America. I believe that I should be awarded this scholarship because I am grateful that I’m in America. I have a chance to start my new life in America. I have a good opportunity to go to a worthy school, and get a good education. Also, I am able to go to school and study hard. Deciding to leave Thailand refugee camp was the most anxious, difficult decision I have ever made.

Being in a Thailand refugee camp meant I wasn’t able to do anything that I wanted to do. It was not a fun place to live. As a refugee, I couldn’t make any income when I live in the camp. My parents are not a rich people and they didn’t work. We couldn’t go work on the outside because we are afraid to get caught by the Thai police. Refugees living in the border region are not allowed out of the refugee camps and cannot work. For example, we just have to stay in the camp and we can’t go anywhere. Refugee camps are hardly natural places to live and are not safe places either.

In order to come to America I had to leave my grandma and some of my relative in the Thailand refugee camp. After a few months my grandma plans to go back to Burma. It was hard for me to leave my grandma because she’s lived with me since I was a baby. She’s always been there for me and took care of me. She’s also my only grandparent that I have left. But I realize that I will be able to go back and visit her someday when I became a successful person.

I love to be in America because I am able to live in a safe place and I am able to do anything that I want to do. For example, I don’t have to be afraid of the people around me because everyone has the same equality. I am also able to get a job and won’t have to be afraid of getting caught by anyone. Also, I have a chance that I can start a better life in here. Being in America is safer than being in Thailand refugee camp.

Moreover, I have a good opportunity that I can go to a worthy school and get a good education. I am able to go to school and study hard in school. Also, I get to study in a fancy school and I am able to study anything that I want to study. For example, when I lived in the Thailand refugee camp, I didn’t get to study in a fancy school and the schools were made entirely of bamboo and thatch. Also, I didn’t get to use the computer and I didn’t have enough the school materials. As a refugee, I didn’t get to go to study in college and just have to study in the camp. My parents are not a rich people so I didn’t get to go to study in college in Thailand city. But now I have a chance to study in a college, get a good education, and get a useful job in the future.

My decisions have impacted my life in the best way. Leaving Thailand was the most important decision that I have ever made in my life. Deciding to leave the camp was difficult because I have never made that kind of decision in my life. I have been through a hard time, and won’t regret this decision. Also, I started school at grade nine here and make it through college. I was struggling many times in school but I didn’t give up on it. I will focus on my education and become a good student. I want to study hard and be a successful person in the future. I love to be in America and I don’t want to go back to live in that place again.
