Just smile! That’s the one thing someone can do every day to change their mood and the moods of the people around them. A smile is simply a gesture, which is a non verbal way to communicate with others. When someone smiles at me I get a great feeling. To some people it makes them feel joyful when they are down or upset, and sometimes it can cause people to smile back at them. Smiles should be spread all around the world and maybe then the world would be a better place. I believe a smile can go a long way.
The definition of a smile is to assume a facial expression indicating pleasure, favor, or amusement but sometimes derision or scorn, characterized by an upturning of the corners of the mouth. When a person smiles at me it means they are showing an act of kindness or just someone being genuinely nice, but to others a smile could mean something different. To me a smile can be very powerful. One smile can make a person who was having a bad day have a good, or give a person a good reason to be confident and feel good about themselves. When I smile at someone I can give them a sense of being welcomed or maybe just showing that someone in the world cares about the. “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around” by Leo Buscaglia I really agree with this quote and also feel many people don’t think a smile can impact a persons life. To anyone a smile could simply mean anything, but everyone deserves to get one.
I love to smile. I can say that I am a person who smiles everyday because I am a member of the winter guard team {which is a performing art} at my high school. I get to perform in front of friends, family, classmates, and total strangers. Every time I perform it gives me a thrill. After I finish one performance I can’t wait to do it again. The best part of performing to crowd of people is getting a good reaction. In the winter guard world the energy I give the audience is the same energy and applause I get back from the audience. This year our show is about the love between Dorothy and the scarecrow from the wizard of oz. Me and my teammates perform with smiles and goofy faces to go along with the story of the show. From start to finish it is the best feeling when I can make eye contact with an audience member showing off my smile causing them to smile back and want to watch our show even more. It is good to know that there kind and caring people waiting for a smile. My best friend says “you can cure cancer with smile”. I think she says that because of the reaction I get when I perform in a show. Sometimes it makes me laugh but I just want my smile to be genuine.
Everyone’s life should be full of smiles to get them through the hard times and tough days. People should be treated the same because we are all equal no matter who they are or even where they came from we should smile at everyone we meet. If anyone knows it or not one simple, genuine, kind smile can go a long way!
