There are many known leaders in this world. From the higher Presidency to the simple leader of a Football Team. As we know, leaders have people willingly joining them in accomplishing the same goal.
My vision of a leader is someone who can be as simple as the person next to them yet have the potential to guide the group of people and together accomplish their goals. A leader whom everyone respects even when they might not be so educated or talk with big words to get their point across. Many leaders are intelligent yet many known leaders have shown that when they want to be heard they become more determined than they ever were in their life.
When my husband was in his teenage years he was a well-known leader in his school. His peers respected him, looked up to him and some even feared him. He helped his parents economically due to them having a big family and therefore was not able to attend college. He might not have been a positive role model but now that he is an adult he is a great role model for our children. My husband has become my leader. The one I admire most due to his strong upbringing, sacrifices and determination in providing for his family, not only economically but emotionally. He is the one who pushes me to continue, gives me strength in being that leader I want to be.
Since I have been at this agency I have seen many leaders come and go. All had a positive side to them and of course some negative. When I took the responsibility of being that leader, at first I was unsure. Fear can be your worst enemy. I then started thinking about all those others before me and thought I would try to be like them, of course the positive side of them. It has been challenging due to the fact that I was comfortable and loved my prior position. Now that I live day by day and see how I am evolving, puts a smile on my face. My smile gets even bigger when I see those around me working together. Working as a team and making our agency better than ever. What makes me more proud is knowing of employees I encouraged, who have not attended college in years, take that first step in continuing their education.
The process of becoming a leader can been nerve wrecking, stressful, but do appreciate it and accept the challenge. I truly enjoy seeing what I am capable of not only in leading but also in being who I am. The person who they can count on. The person who is there to help in any way possible in order for them to accomplish a goal. Someone they can trust and they all know I am a sentimental person who will not fear showing my emotions. Respect and you shall be respected is what my husband says to me and that is exactly what I am doing.
